Bananas were first domesticated in Southeast Asia and Papua New Guinea but were introduced to the Americas by the Portuguese sailors who brought the fruit from West Africa in the 16th century. There are over 1000 different varieties of bananas. We ethically source many varieties in South Florida such as Burro, Baby, Namwah, Cuban Red, Blue Java, Praying Hands, Gold Finger & Mona Lisa.
Each banana variety has its own complex flavors ranging from sweet to tangy. Similarly, bananas have different textures depending on the variety.
Bananas are a rich source of potassium, vitamin C, and magnesium which help to build lean muscle mass. Bananas are available all year long. Refer to our SEASONAL GUIDE

Your bananas will arrive green and unripe. Wait until the skin in yellow with brown/black spots which is when it is at its optimal ripeness.
